Winton Woods City School District receives funding from the federal government to supplement the educational programs offered to students in the district. There are several grants Winton Woods receives, each providing funds for specific academic programs, including:

Title I, Part A (Title I) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended (ESEA) provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. 

Title II-A, Supporting Effective Instruction

By preparing, training, and recruiting High Quality Teachers and Principals, provides grants to State educational agencies, local educational agencies, State agencies for higher education, and eligible partnerships in order to –

  1. Reform teacher and principal certification programs  and provide support to new teachers.
  2. Increase student academic achievement through strategies such as improving teacher and principal quality.
  3. increase the number of highly qualified teachers in the classroom and highly qualified principals and assistant principals in schools.
  4. Hold the local educational agencies and schools accountable for improvements in student academic achievement.

Title III- Language Instruction for English Learners and Immigrant Children

The program is designed to improve the education of English Learners (EL) children and youths by helping them learn English and meet challenging state academic content and student academic achievement standards. The program provides enhanced instructional opportunities for immigrant children and youths.


The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)-Part B is a law ensuring services to children with disabilities throughout the nation. IDEA governs how states and public agencies provide early intervention, special education and related services to more than 6.5 million eligible infants, toddlers, children and youth with disabilities. Infants and toddlers with disabilities (birth-2) and their families receive early intervention services under IDEA Part C. Children and youth (ages 3-21) receive special education and related services under IDEA Part B.
