Winton Woods High School Juniors and Seniors to Meet Regional Employers at New Career Exploration Event

Students will interact with equipment and industry professionals from more than 20 area businesses and government agencies during "Touch a Truck, Plan My Future: The High School Experience."

CINCINNATI (September 1, 2026) — Winton Woods High School will host its first high-school-level Touch a Truck event on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, giving juniors and seniors direct access to employers in construction, public safety, utilities, health care, finance, and manufacturing. The event takes place on the district's North Campus and is limited to Winton Woods High School juniors and seniors.

Unlike the elementary-level Touch a Truck program that introduces young children to vehicles and equipment, this event is built around career pathways. Students will move between vehicles, equipment, and demonstration stations staffed by industry professionals who will answer questions about training requirements, certifications, wages, and how to enter each field.

More than twenty organizations have confirmed participation, including Walsh Kokosing, the firm currently working on the Brent Spence Bridge project, along with TP Mechanical, O'Rourke Wrecking, Megen Construction, Feldkamp Enterprises, and ESI Electrical Contractors representing the construction and skilled trades sector. The City of Cincinnati, Greater Cincinnati Water Works, Metropolitan Sewer District, and the City of Forest Park will represent public works. Public safety agencies include Forest Park Police and Fire Departments, Greenhills Police, Springfield Township Police and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. Additional partners include the Cincinnati Health Department, Public Allies Cincinnati, TATA Technologies, Union Savings Bank, UPS, Cincinnati Metro, and Chuck Futel and Associates.

"Our students need to see what is possible, and they need to meet the people and organizations who can help them get there," said Dr. Adonica Jones-Parks, Career and Technical Education (CTE) Coordinator for Winton Woods City Schools. "Every truck, every piece of equipment, and every conversation at this event connects back to a real job, a training path, and a paycheck."

The event is part of Winton Woods City Schools' CTE programming, which prepares students in more than a dozen fields for post-secondary education, apprenticeships, and direct entry into the workforce. More information on the district's CTE program is available at wintonwoods.org/cte.
