Winton Woods City School District Earns 3-Star Rating on State Report Card, Continuing Upward Trajectory

District's theme "Warriors Rising Together" reflects collective progress across schools

CINCINNATI (September 15, 2026) — The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce released its annual School Report Cards today, and Winton Woods City School District has climbed up to 3 out of 5 stars, marking a significant step forward for the district.

The improved rating reflects gains across multiple performance measures and comes after several years of focused work on instruction, curriculum alignment, and student support systems. A 3-star rating means Winton Woods has met the state's standards for performance, a benchmark district leaders see as a foundation to build on rather than a finish line. Leaders are framing the achievement as a shared one, adopting the phrase "Warriors Rising Together" to describe the collective effort behind the progress.

"Our advancement from 2.5 to 3 stars reflects the collective commitment, strategic leadership, and instructional excellence demonstrated across Winton Woods City Schools," said Dr. Adrienne Martin, Executive Director of Teaching and Learning for PreK–6. "Through sustained professional learning and the implementation of high-quality instructional materials in literacy, our educators are delivering increasingly rigorous and responsive learning experiences for students. As we prepare to pilot high-quality instructional materials in mathematics, we will continue to build upon this momentum with purpose and urgency. Meeting state standards is an important milestone that demonstrates the strength of our districtwide efforts and our unwavering commitment to ensuring every student achieves at the highest level."

"I have always believed that data should do more than tell us where we are; it should help us determine where we need to go," said Dr. Tamra C. Ragland, Executive Director of Teaching and Learning for Grades 7-12. "These results reflect several years of intentional work to strengthen our systems, align curriculum and instruction, use data more consistently, and provide targeted support based on student need. We are encouraged by the growth we are seeing, particularly in areas where students have demonstrated sustained improvement over time. The data shows that we are moving in the right direction. Our responsibility now is to build on what is working, address what is not, and continue moving every student forward."

District officials noted that the rating improvement is one measure among many the district uses to track progress, alongside classroom observation, local assessment data, and a variety of research-based vendor assessments.

Later this fall, the district will debut its 2025-26 Quality Profile. This annual publication is designed to give every Winton Woods resident a comprehensive look at the high-quality education and services the district offered during the 2025-26 school year. The Quality Profile is a robust complement to the Ohio School Report Card, and includes additional accountability measures that define the high-quality education students receive in Winton Woods.
