Winton Woods City School District Appoints Kayla Miller to Board of Education

At its regular meeting on Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, the Winton Woods City Schools Board of Education voted to appoint Kayla Miller to fill the unexpired term of Dr. Viola Johnson on the School Board. Miller’s appointment is effective immediately. She will serve until Jan. 1, 2026.

Miller is the executive director of Everybody is LITT Academy, a Cincinnati-based nonprofit focused on closing the literacy gap and fostering youth engagement, and also serves as an adjunct professor at Mount St. Joseph University. A former educator and reading specialist, she has experience in youth advocacy, community partnerships and teacher development. Miller holds a Master of Education from Miami University, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Cincinnati and is pursuing a Doctorate of Education at Clemson University.

“I believe in our students. I believe in our educators. I also believe in the future of Winton Woods City Schools,” Miller said. “It is an honor to serve on the Board of Education, and I am committed to working collaboratively with my fellow board members, staff and the community to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed. Together, we can continue building a district that inspires, supports and prepares all learners for the future.”

Board President Brandon Smith expressed his support for the appointment.

“Ms. Miller brings a wealth of experience in education and youth advocacy,” Smith said. “Her passion for empowering students and supporting educators makes her a strong addition to our board. We are excited to welcome her and look forward to her contributions.”
