Just imagine, the food we eat every day provides the energy we need to perform at our best. For Winton Woods City Schools, it is a priority that every child receives regular, delicious, nutritious meals that supports their academic performance and helps them thrive as scholars. During the school closure, the Child Nutrition Department distributed over 180,000 healthy meals. Each week, the staff worked hard to prepare and serve students on Mondays and Wednesdays to ensure they have a satisfying breakfast and lunch for each day of the week. At any one of the eight distribution stops, students looked forward to being greeted with a smile and served their breakfast and lunch for the week. “Everyone does their part and does not stop,” said Director of the Child Nutrition Department Mark Doctor. “I cannot speak highly enough of how impressed I am to be part of such a great team.” Winton Woods also wants to acknowledge LaRosa’s, Skyline Chili, Frisch’s and Chick-Fil-A for their meal donations to our nutrition staff.
On June 1, our summer meals program began distributing breakfast and lunch on Mondays and Thursdays to ensure children in our community continued to receive nutritious meals for the week throughout the summer. For more information and updates, go to www.wintonwoods.org/summermeals.
