PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Winton Woods Orchestra Program consists of over 350 students in grades 5-12 and is part of a music department that is consistently celebrated by the NAMM Foundation for being among the best communities for Music Education. We emphasize diverse programming, pursue excellence at various adjudicated events, and actively seek out other creative performances and activities for our students of all ages and ability levels.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Through collaboration with the band program, we are able to offer Symphonic Orchestra performance opportunities to all string students in grades 8-12, allowing them to experience the entire spectrum of orchestral repertoire (including winds, brass, and percussion) from an early age. In addition, through generous support from Winton Woods Educational Foundation, Inc. and Music Matinée, our students have access to world-class educational guests, clinicians, and private teachers.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
At the high school, we offer an auditioned Chamber Orchestra, Musical Pit Orchestra, and other chamber ensemble opportunities. At the middle school, members of the Orchestra Club are able to experiment with various forms of music technology and are given the opportunity to perform and arrange popular music selections.
Furthering their musical and educational aspirations, many advanced high school students have been invited to perform in professional-level youth ensembles that include the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra, OMEA Southwest Regional Orchestra, and the Blue Ash Youth Symphony Orchestra. In addition, select Middle School Students are invited each year to perform with the OMEA District 14 Junior High Honors Orchestra Festival.
