Academics

Winton Woods City Schools is committed to ensuring that all students achieve their highest potential. As a New Tech Network district focused on project-based learning, our students learn through appropriate, challenging, authentic projects as they explore, adapt and engage the world around them. This unique approach to learning creates a seamless pathway toward success from preschool through 12th grade. This rich academic experience gives our students increased opportunities to be positive contributors, creative innovators and strong leaders in our community and in our world.

Our academic focus begins in early childhood with a preschool program that offers a blend of general and special education. Education in the district’s primary and elementary buildings focuses on differentiated instruction, data-driven lessons, Ohio Learning Standards and classroom technology. Winton Woods Intermediate School offers strong academics and a variety of fine arts options. Winton Woods Middle School offers math and foreign language classes for high school credit, as well as advanced classes in science and language arts.  We also offer elective engineering courses that introduce students to technology and robotics. Winton Woods High School is fully accredited by AdvancEd and is a full member of the Southern Regional Educational Board (SREB) High Schools That Work (HSTW) school improvement network.

The district offers 22 competitive varsity sports, as well as various clubs. Many of these opportunities begin in our primary schools. Chorus, band, and orchestra are offered beginning in fifth grade, and all students in grades 1-6 participate in visual or performing arts courses. The district is recognized for its choir, band, orchestra, and art programs, including being honored as being one of the Best Communities for Music Education in the country by the National Association of Music Merchants.
