CDC Update August 24, 2022 

Exposed to COVID-19 

Start precautions immediately (MASK UP) & watch for symptoms. 

Day 0 is the day of your last exposure to someone with COVID-19. 

Day 1 is the first full day after your last exposure. Test on Day 6. 

Continue to wear a mask through Day 10. 

Develop Symptoms 

Isolate immediately. 

Get tested after 5 full days (Day 6). 

Stay home until you know the results. 

Negative test, resume regular activities, and continue to wear a mask through Day 10 after exposure. 

Test Positive for COVID-19 

Regardless of vaccination status, isolate immediately. 

Isolate for 5 full days and resume regular activities on Day 6 ONLY if you are fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication & with improved symptoms. If you still have symptoms (ex. Fever), continue to isolate until you are fever free. Wear a mask through Day 10. 

*You may still test positive after Day 6. Continue to wear a mask through Day 10.
