Thomas Gray, Winton Woods City Schools new transportation director is no stranger to education. With family members who work in school districts, and a mother who was passionate about education, he knew it was only a matter of time before he found himself in education as well. After college, Gray entered into the U.S. Marine Corps and retired after 20 years of honorable service, he worked diligently in the logistics and transportation career field. “I always had a love for transportation,” said Gray. He served as a transportation router for Cincinnati Public Schools, he served as Director of Transportation for Northwest Local Schools and the Executive Director of Transportation for Dayton Public Schools.
When asked why he chose Winton Woods City Schools he said, “It is a great district, and close to home so it is beneficial to work and what I do.” He also mentioned that service and community has always been a part of his life. His hope is to update the Winton Woods busing system by adding a camera system to every bus, a GPS, increasing staff professional development opportunities and routing and planning. Gray said, “I look forward to serving the district and community, and making sure our students arrive at school and home safely.” He is married to Kathy Gray, and they have seven children and eight grandchildren. “We are excited to welcome Mr. Gray to our team,” said Executive Director of Business Affairs Steve Denny. “He brings a wide array of experiences and a strong customer service orientation to the role. He will be a great asset to our students, families, communities, and schools.”
