Dr. John Cuppoletti
Board Member

Dr. John Cuppoletti and his wife of 34 years have lived in the Winton Woods School District since 1986. They have one Winton Woods graduate. Dr. Cuppoletti earned his associate degree from Santa Rosa California Junior College in 1972, bachelor's degree in 1974 and doctoral degree in Biochemistry and Biophysics in 1977 at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Cuppoletti and his wife were assistant professors of Physiology at the University of California, Los Angeles from 1982 to 1986 and Professors of Physiology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine from 1986 to 2016. They are now retired. Dr. Cuppoletti has published approximately 100 research articles and has numerous patents.

Dr. Cuppoletti trained high school students, medical students, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and faculty from around the globe in his laboratory.  He also taught in the classroom. Dr. Cuppoletti was a first generation student who believes that every student should be given a chance and help to succeed. Dr. Cuppoletti and his wife support a number of scholarships and financial awards for first generation students at the University of Cincinnati and at institutions in California. 

Dr. Cuppoletti has always been active in service to his community. He served as a member of the Greenhills Volunteer Fire Department, chair of the faculty at the University of Cincinnati, and for nine years, as member and chair of the Ohio Faculty Council which advises the chancellor of the State of Ohio. In short, Dr. Cuppoletti has a long record of research, teaching and service to his communities.

Dr. Cuppoletti is aware of the work and time commitment required of the board members. He will be available for all meetings and other efforts needed to help the Board of Education accomplish its goals of ensuring student achievement, aligning resources needed, and to partner and engage with parents and community partners.

Dr. Cuppoletti looks forward to serving his community through service on the Board of Education of Winton Woods City Schools.
