Once again Winton Woods City Schools is offering its popular Jumpstart orientation this summer for preschool and kindergarten students. The Jumpstart program is designed to help lessen the anxiety of the first day of school and is aimed at both students and their families. The optional one-day program will take place Friday, August 3, at Winton Woods Primary North in Greenhills and Winton Woods Primary South in Springfield Township.

At the orientation, students learn about their classroom, teacher, school and what intro to project-based learning is like in preschool and kindergarten. “Jumpstart is an additional opportunity for our Wee Warriors and their families to get over the anxiety of a new school year. Students unable to attend will not be set back,” said Corina Denny, community engagement coordinator for the district. “ We will have structures in place to support all students when they arrive on August 20.”

Parents attending the orientation will have the opportunity to meet their school’s staff and get connected to the Warrior family. Stations that will be set up include enrollment, food services, teaching and learning, PTA, Latino tutoring information, school nurses, transportation, student services and technology.

All Preschool and Kindergarten Jumpstart events begin at 9:00 a.m. and take place at the student’s assigned primary school. Winton Woods Primary North, which serves students from preschool to second grade, is located at 73 Junefield Avenue in Greenhills. Winton Woods Primary South, which serves students from kindergarten to second grade, is located at 825 Lakeridge Road in Springfield Township.
