Winton Woods Students Honored for Academics and Service

The academic achievements and community service of 106 students at Winton Woods High School were recognized at the school’s 57th Annual Community School Achievement Committee (CSAC) awards banquet. The CSAC banquet is sponsored by the Forest Park Women’s Club and is a cooperative venture of many organizations in the Winton Woods School District. It was first organized by Harry Kilb, a 1945 graduate of Greenhills High School, to honor students at both Greenhills and Forest Park High Schools.


To be eligible for an award, students had to achieve a grade point average of 3.5 out of 4.0 for the first semester of the current year and at least 3.0 for the second semester of the preceding year. At semester, no more than one “C” was permitted. Summer school courses were included with second semester of the preceding year.

Third Year Award winners were: Britney Forde, Kate Ingram, Cari Sullivan, Aria Gaines, Naomi Lowery, Lindsey Van Dyke, Angelica Gil Mendez, Jada Ray, Kimberly Vargas, Bria Gordon, Lillian Smith, Aniah Hollowell, Jonathan Smotherman.


The Special Award for service was presented to Naomi Hall for her selfless efforts to students of the district and community. Winton Woods High School Guidance Counselor says it was her name that was mentioned several months ago when he asked for a nomination from teachers for the American Jewish Council Service Award. “After meeting with our nominee, I came away very impressed with her commitment to serving others. This admiration has only grown as time has gone on.” A few of her activities include: Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy, Student Voice, National Honor Society, Color Guard, Honors Choir, Student Council Advisory Council, Student Council, Spanish Club,  Key Club and the University of Charleston Leadership Committee. Additionally, she has maintained a 3.8 through five semesters of high school.


This year’s CSAC committee was composed of the following organizations that donated funds, time, and energy: All State Insurance—Dennis Smith Agency, The American Legion- Hugh Watson Post #530, Brentwood Bowl, Elex Inc., Forest Park Women’s Club, Greenhills High School Alumni Association, Harrigan Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Co., Just Essential Nutrition, Megan Construction Company, Inc., Nieman Plumbing, W.H. Shroyer Nursery and Wright-Patterson Credit Union.
