Design Teams

  • Core Team - team directs design and reports to WWCS Board of Education

  • Design Steering Team (DST) - district-level leadership team providing input on design to Core Team

  • Campus Design Teams - team meetings with extensive community and stakeholder involvement and engagement

  • Small Learning Community (SLC) Design Teams - select focus groups provide input on design and operation of the academic areas

  • Design Focus Groups - small staff member groups with specific department and/or grade-level focus areas

  • Environmental Design - Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum** set as a goal for the new facilities; LEED-Platinum is the highest level attainable

  • WELL Building Standards**** also being implemented whenever and wherever possible to maximize the health and wellness benefits of our design, operations and new school construction


  • Site plans completed and under review by local jurisdictions

  • Surveys of existing sites completed in preparation for construction

  • Construction logistics planning meetings now underway

  • Building to be constructed onsite next to current facilities: no swing space required for schools

  • Traffic studies completed

  • Locations for new school construction determined onsite for K-6, 7-12 and Preschool Village campuses (see above diagram)

  • Site planning revealed current Central Office facility falls within the footprint of new 7-12 school building

  • Central Office relocated from existing site to make way for construction to a temporary modular administrative building behind the Intermediate School until K-6 construction is completed

  • Central Office to be relocated into the Preschool Village (current Intermediate School) following completion of K-6 campus and required modifications of that building, estimated timeframe to be 2021-2022

  • Community Learning Center (CLC) *** planned for K-6 campus



  • Land Use Plan led by the WW Board of Education being developed
  • Restoring busing when the buildings are completed
  • Shared community spaces and potential partnerships for these spaces




*Program of Requirements (POR) - A complete listing of all of the different types of spaces within a school and their given square footage amounts.


**Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum -  A rating system devised by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) to evaluate the environmental performance of a building and encourage market transformation towards sustainable design. Buildings can be certified Silver, Gold or Platinum with Platinum being the highest level awarded.

***Community Learning Centers (CLC)- specializes spaces that serve as hubs for community services, providing a system of integrated partnerships that promote academic excellence and offer recreational, educational, social, health, civic and cultural opportunities for students, families and the community.

IWBI delivers the cutting-edge WELL Building Standard, the first to be focused exclusively on the ways that buildings, and everything in them, can improve our comfort, drive better choices, and generally enhance health and wellness.
