Accelerated Reader

Reading is a priorty at the Winton Woods City Schools. You can visit our schools at any time during the day and you will find students reading books. Accelerated Reader Program (AR) is an individual computerized reading program that allows students to read at their own pace and level of ability. The program is available year round for students in Grades K-6.

Students use website Acclereated Reader to read books and take comprehension quizzes.

Accelerated Reader

The Accelerated Reading program is a computer managed method to monitor student reading progress of  books. Thousands of books at all reading levels have skills tests in a data base. Students take a test after reading the selected book. The number of questions and reading level are provided by the vendor. If a student answers the required percentage correctly, they are credited points. Each grade level sets the level of points needed for the grading period. The points are factored into the student's reading grade.

Password: Student's Initials
(2 letters - Firstname Initial/Lastname Initial)

  

Parents/Students can view records from home!!!
* Parents may request an account, from the AR login page
* Parent website - http://renplace.wintonwoods.org
* Click on REQUEST PARENT/GUARDIAN ACCESS
* Fill in each data box, including parent e-mail address and # of children
* Parent username/password credentials will be e-mailed to you within a few days
* Parents with more than one child may click a drop-down list to select the child
* Parents must have Adobe Reader installed to view reports.
* Click the adobe reader icon once you have your parent account to get the FREE software.

Offers our students unlimited access to more than 100,000 quizzes on books from publishers around the world.

Accelerated Reader Enterprise offers four types of quizzes.
•

Reading Practice Quizzes ask literal questions that measure a student’s comprehension of a book.
• Recorded Voice Quizzes allow beginning readers to take quizzes on their own because these quizzes include professionally narrated audio.
• Literacy Skills Quizzes ask higher-level questions that require students to apply 24 specific reading skills.
• Vocabulary Practice Quizzes help you get students more excited about learning vocabulary. Vocabulary Practice Quizzes are available only with Accelerated Reader Enterprise.
