JERRON CAGE COMMITS TO OSU

Winton Woods High School junior Jerron Cage has verbally committed to play football for the Ohio State University. The 6’3” defensive lineman also had offers from the University of Cincinnati, Louisville, Illinois and Kentucky. Cage had 40 tackles and 10 sacks last year for the Warriors and is the No. 4 player overall in Ohio’s 2017 class. Jerron’s older brother, Daniel Cage, is a former Winton Woods player and is now a sophomore defensive lineman at the University of Notre Dame.

FLY FISHING CAMP

Winton Woods City Schools’ students in grades 5-8 were able to learn the fundamentals of fly fishing during a free, two-day fly fishing camp held July 13-14 at Parky’s Farm in Winton Woods Park. The camp was offered by Forest Chapel United Methodist Church, Front Unlimited and Buckeye United Fly Fishers Association. Shown at the camp are (l-r) Paul Feldman, Winton Woods High School Athletic Director David Lumpkin, student Starr Adams, Jeff McElravy, student Kaijah Hector, Andy Stovall, Jerry Snider, and Don Beaver.

CROSS CULTURAL CAMP

Students and teachers from China have arrived at Winton Woods City Schools and will be participating in the district’s Cross Cultural Summer Camp. Winton Woods’ gifted students in grades 6-9 will be joining in this week-long, project-based learning opportunity with the theme of “explorations.” Students will improve their collaborative skills and experience team building activities while learning more about their respective cultures.

JUNE COMMUNITY SPIRIT AWARD

Forest Park resident Linda McIntyre was presented with Winton Woods City Schools’ Community Spirit Award  at the June board of education meeting. “Mrs. McIntyre is a passionate supporter of children and education and believes that students should have as many opportunities as possible to achieve and be successful,” said Superintendent Anthony G. Smith.
