Informational Letter from Superintendent - January 2008
January 2008
Dear Parent or Guardian:
Last month, our Board President and I sent you a letter announcing a school operating levy on March 4. I am writing today to outline what this election means for your student and to provide voter registration information to you.
As you know, the district reduced expenditures by $2.1 million this school year in order to postpone the levy and minimize its amount. If the levy doesn’t pass this calendar year, the district will need to cut even deeper. It will need to reduce expenditures by an additional $2 million. These reductions will include, but not be limited to:
Ø higher class sizes at middle and high school
Ø reduced busing to state minimums
Ø increased student fees
Ø cuts in optional programs and services, such as elementary orchestra, band, and chorus; middle and high school advanced courses, gifted and talented (GTE/GTA), alternative education programs, athletics and other extracurricular activities.
In order to vote in the March 4 election, you must be a registered voter. You may register at any of our schools, public libraries, or the Hamilton County Board of Elections. If you have had a name or address change since the last time you voted, OR if you haven’t voted in the last 4 years, you will need to update your voter registration. We have included a form for your convenience should you need to do this. You may mail the completed form to: Hamilton County Board of Elections, 824 Broadway, Cincinnati, OH 45202.
Sincerely,
Camille A. Nasbe, Ed.D.
Superintendent
