TALENTED SOPHOMORE HONORED AS KIWANIS GOLD STAR STUDENT

Alexis Weihe, a sophomore at Winton Woods High School, was chosen as the Gold Star-Kiwanis Student of the Month at the May board of education meeting for her accomplishments in the classroom, on the stage, and in the community. “Alexis has earned the honor to be the Student of the Month because of all the great things she has accomplished,” said Guidance Counselor Kim Goins.

THIRD GRADER HONORED FOR PERSEVERANCE

Kennedy Hillman said it’s been her pleasure to be Michael “Mikey” Dutsch’s third grade teacher this year at Winton Woods Elementary School. “He's a great example of how a third grader should be,” she said. “He demonstrates commitment, pride, and a positive attitude in completing a task in the classroom. Michael works extremely hard without giving up.” Dutsch was honored at Winton Woods’ May board of education meeting by the Greenhills/Forest Park Kiwanis Club with their Character is Key award for perseverance.

HUMANITIES CLASS PRESENTS $5,000 TO FREESTORE FOODBANK

Students in the humanities class at Winton Woods Middle School were eager to show off the school’s new Pride Pantry to Jennifer Ebelhar of Freestore Foodbank and to present her with a check for $5000. The check was won by the students as part of their participation in the Lead2Feed World Hunger Leadership Challenge. The Pride Pantry provides assistance to students and their families through supplying practical items like school supplies and personal care products.
