Literacy

The Literacy component of the Department of Teaching and Learning is responsible for choosing all texts and materials, professional development, and programs for reading and language arts grades kindergarten through 12.

Data is used to determine the success of the programs in place and scientifically-based research materials, professional development, and tests are chosen for use in the district.  Reading and writing strategies and professional development for teachers through the literacy component are also incorportated in content areas to support students' development of critical and analytical thinking.
