Board Meeting in Review
December 10, 2007


Music of the Season:
• Winton Woods High School Varsity Ensemble under the direction of Ben Spalding

The Board recognized:
• Winton Woods High School Art teachers Carol Becci-Youngs, Stephen Smith and Aaron Schmits and their students whose art work was displayed for the Board.
• Byron Hazlett, Winton Woods Primary South student who received the Kiwanis Character is Key Award for RESPECT.
• Nina Booker, Winton Woods High School Student of the Month.
• Bill and Audrey McMillan, community members, who have volunteered their services to students in the Winton Woods City Schools at the elementary and high school levels for 12 years.
• Qin Wang, Chinese teacher, was recognized for her work over the last year teaching Chinese throughout the district.  Qin is going home to China and hopefully will be returning in February 2008.
• Sharon Oakes, Communications Director, who has accepted a full-time position with West Clermont Schools effective January 2, 2008.

The Board received reports on:
• Winton Woods High School Continuous Improvement Plan presented by Anita Williams, Principal.  The presentation addressed three goals: fiscal responsibility, improve achievement, and improve the building culture.

The Board approved:
• all personnel schedules. 
• a revision of policy #5517.01 – Bullying and Other Forms of Aggressive Behavior.

The Board reported on:
• continued NSBA efforts to lobby against cuts in educational funding. (Pennycuff)
• Scarlet Oaks annual culinary presentation on December 12. (Emmert)

Comments from Members of the Board and Superintendent:
• The Board approved - Motion to Appoint John Pennycuff President Pro-Tempore and set an organizational meeting date of January 7, 2008 at 7:30.
• The Board approved - Motion to Approve Levy Resolution – a 7.95 mil tax levy to be placed on the March 4, 2008 ballot.
