Kevin Jones

Location: Cincinnati,Ohio
Kevin Jones was born in St. Louis, Missouri in June of 1978. When he was two years old he moved to Cincinnati. Kevin grew up on the West Side of Cincinnati attending the Three Rivers School District and graduating from Taylor High School in June of 1996. He then attended Miami University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Spanish Education. In May of 2000 he graduated from Miami University and in August he began working as a Spanish teacher at Winton Woods High School in Cincinnati. Kevin was a Spanish teacher for five years during that time he completed his Master's degree at Xavier University in School Counseling. He completed his Master's program in May of 2005 and in August began working as the College/Career advisor at Winton Woods High School. As a College/Career advisor he aids the students in the college application process and helps provide them with info for ACT/SAT test preparation. He also interprets test results for our students and their parents. In addition, He researches and shares scholarship and financial aid information with the students and provides the students with the necessary resources to successfully complete the college admission process. Mr. Jones counsels students regarding career planning and preparation and frequently visits classrooms teaching about the importance of each step in the college/career/scholarship preparation process. He interviews each senior and works with them to map out a realistic post-secondary plan. Kevin is also bilingual fluently speaking Spanish and English. He works with the Hispanic students at our school as well as at our elementary and middle schools and is a resource for information for our Hispanic parents and community members. He assists and interprets for parents at our special education (IEP, 504) meetings and translates critical documents to Spanish in order to better inform our Hispanic community members. In addition to these responsibilities Kevin Jones plans special programs for our high school. He has organized programs such as inviting the Hamilton County Coroner, Odell Owens, to speak to our science classes and has invited Hispanic business professionals to school to encourage and talk with our Hispanic student body. Kevin also looks for out of school enrichment opportunities to plug our students in to more opportunities for growth. Kevin is also in charge of meeting with all new students coming to our high school and leading them through a three day orientation program. Mr. Jones is active in the hallways and has great rapport with the student body. He believes that young people have dignity and worth and that they have the ability to succeed and become contributing members of our society. He is passionate about assisting young people to learn, to work and to live in the 21st century.
