Winton Woods High School A Cappella Groups to Perform at A Cappella Invitational
Members of Counterpoint and Harmony perform at the 2008 Winton Woods High School Varsity Ensemble and Jazz Band Show.
Their names alone—Harmony and Counterpoint—attest to the fact that these student a cappella groups from Winton Woods High School make beautiful music together. Soon their music will be shared with groups from around the state.
“We will be starting this year with a performance on November 15 during an all-day a cappella invitational at Kettering Fairmont High School,” said Ben Spalding, Associate Choral Director at Winton Woods High School. “Both Harmony, our men’s group, and Counterpoint, our women’s group, will have the opportunity to perform for other high school a cappella groups and hear other groups perform.”
At the invitational, there will be two 40-minute master classes led by the a cappella group, Rockapella, which is known for the song “Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?” from the show with the same name. “Rockapella will be working with a few of the groups, and our students will have the opportunity to observe them in action,” said Spalding. “This will be a great opportunity for them to grow and learn.”
The evening will conclude with a concert by Fusion, Eleventh Hour—Fairmont High School’s award-winning a cappella group—and Rockapella.
