The Winton Woods High School Varsity Ensemble had the extraordinary opportunity to perform for noted composer Adolphus Hailstork at a workshop presented by the Cincinnati Chapter of the American Guild of Organists on Saturday, February 20. Dr. Hailstork is the leading, living African-American composer of classical music.

“Dr. Hailstork described our performance of his anthem, ‘Wake Up, My Spirit,’ as thrilling and awesome," said Winton Woods Choir Director David Bell. “This piece will be the opening number in our contest set in March, so this was a remarkable opportunity to coach this piece with the composer himself.”

The performance took place at Christ Church Cathedral in downtown Cincinnati.
