MESSAGE TO PARENTS & STUDENTS
I do sincerely hope that you/your child learned a lot more math than they knew before they walked into Room 104. I did my best to make class engaging, entertaining, most importantly informative. I know that I may not have always succeeded at it, but your child's learning was always at the forefront of what occurred in my classroom.
The nature of my job allows me to really get a strong sense of a generation. My heart goes out to these young people who are facing a world with challenges that many of us did not have to face. They have the capability to be far more technologically advanced than we were at their age. They have the chance to reach further and go faster than we, their parents and teachers, could. I just hope as we work as a community to raise this generation that we don't allow them to lose track of the values that got us this far: valuing education, hard work, and respect for authority. As I continue within the spectrum of my career, I am seeing these values declining in this generation of young people. They are so smart, so strong, and so capable. They have such talent, wit, and courage. They are our future.
It is so rewarding to meet so many young people and see them grow and be successful. I was proud to celebrate many of my students’ success with Student of the Week, Most Improved Student, and Excellence in Mathematics Awards. In addition, I have been honored to have 2 former students nominate me as their Most Influential Teacher (2007 & 2008). I actually had the chance to have these 2 students tell me how I made a difference in their lives, their words were more precious than gold to me. I look forward to hearing back from you and your child too about how things are going after leaving WWMS.
In conclusion, it has been an honor and a privilege to serve you and your family. If there is any way I can be of help in the future, feel free to contact me. Have a safe and relaxing summer, I’m going too!
P.S. Study Island is open most of the summer. It is a great opportunity to sharpen skills over summer..... hint, hint! :)
Take care and good luck!
Sincerely,
Problem of the Week
Soon to come!
