Situation: Students will compare what should happen (theoretical/expected results) with what did happen (experimental/actual results). They will then make predictions base upon the data the collected, while doing a simple experiment using virtual dice. They will then us a spreadsheet to record their data and findings. The students will present their findings.

Directions:

  1. Download the file named “Record Sheet” and save in my documents.

  2. Rename “LastnameRecordSheet”

  3. Download the file named “Prediction Sheet

  4. Rename “LastnamePredictions” and save in my documents.

  5. Click on the link http://www.bgfl.org/bgfl/custom/resources_ftp/client_ftp/ks1/maths/dice/

  6. Create your own six sided dice, using the customize feature.

  7. Open your file named “LastnameRecordSheet”

  8. Label the spreadsheet so that it equals your dice.

  9. Complete the activity by rolling the dice and recording your data 50 times.

  10. Save your work every 5 minutes or so.

  11. Complete the rest of the “LastnameRecordSheet” by filling in the rest of the data.

  12. Using your spreadsheet create a chart that illustrates the data.

  13. Create a short paragraph that illustrates your findings.

  14. Present your findings using some tool.
