According to Winton Woods High School Counselor Kim Goins, senior Camaia Smith has been a high achieving student for quite some time. “I have known Camaia for four years,” said Goins. “I was her school counselor for her freshman and sophomore years. I remained active in her academic career as she transitioned to a different counselor for her junior and senior years. Camaia has always been a serious student. She entered high school wanting to know what she needed to do in order to be prepared for college, and exceeded.”

“She was involved in many extra-curricular school activities,” said Goins. “Camaia actively participated on the girls’ basketball, volleyball, and track and field teams all four years. She was voted into student council her freshman year and has been a member for four years. For her senior year, she was the morning announcer that greeted the entire student body each day with the school’s activities. She created a Snapchat account for the entire school for her senior capstone and became a member of the prom committee. She was responsible for decorations, snacks and photography. For the 2017-2018 football season, she was selected to be the high school’s team manager. She was very busy making sure the team had towels and plenty to drink for hydration. She traveled to all of the games, regardless of the weather, until the season ended in December at the state championship.”

“Camaia is a very well-rounded student,” said Goins. “She is polite, kind, and a globally conscious young lady, always offering assistance to anyone. I am so proud of the young lady she has become.”
