Demarco Stallworth, a fifth-grader at Winton Woods Intermediate School (WWIS), was honored at the district’s November board of education meeting with the Kiwanis Character is Key award for caring.
“I often see Demarco walking in the hallway accompanying one of his classmates to make sure that she is not walking alone,” said Jeremy Day, WWIS Principal. “Demarco will ask people in the hallway how their day is going, give them high fives and will genuinely try to brighten everyone’s day. There have been many times he has single-handedly made my day better by giving me a handshake and asking how my day is going. He is very helpful in his classroom, stays on task and asks his teachers if they need help with anything. When you meet Demarco, his smile is contagious and his positive outlook is something we can all take lessons from. It is my pleasure to recommend Demarco Stallworth as our Kiwanis Character is Key award winner.
